J’ai ouvert la vidéo et quel choc j’ai eu quand j’ai reconnu que l’homme à terre, n’était autre qu’un frère de lutte, Ray McGovern. Quand je l’ai connu à Athènes, il y a près de dix ans, je ne savais rien de lui. Il est venu vers moi, souriant gentiment. Il s’est présenté par son prénom, m’a demandé d’où je venais. Une personne qui le connaissait m’a signalé que c’était « quelqu’un de très important ». J’apprenais plus tard que c’était un ancien analyste de la CIA qui avait changé de camp. Depuis lors je suis restée au courant de ses faits et gestes courageux de vrai résistant. Je suis bouleversée de voir ici avec quelle brutalité cet homme doux et respectable est traité. Warning: police violence—— Ray McGovern, a former CIA analyst and whistleblower, spoke out during Gina Haspel’s confirmation hearing against her participation in the CIA’s rendition and torture program. He was brutalized by police who ripped him out of the hearing room and while he shouted that they had dislocated his arm they continued to shove him into the ground.
